Despite the opposition's best efforts Newdigate's U12 Rooks bowling and batting success won the day against Westcott CC.

Yusuf opened with fine bowling form, taking a wicket in his first over. Freddie claimed a wicket maiden in the second and then Kaz, Corey and Zac followed suit bowling more beautiful wickets supported by strong fielding from the rest of the team, in particular Leo, who responded really well to numerous big hits from Westcott. All Newdigate bowlers gave a strong attacking performance with minimal points conceded, with Charlotte being our most efficient bowler; the opposition only achieving 2 runs in her company. Zac closed the first innings with a catch, dismissing the batsman on a run out.

With Westcott’s warmth and match tea in abundance, they made history with our team who have encouraged us to increase our standards. Any children wishing to bake before future games are more than welcome!

The Rooks began the second innings with confidence with all pairs delivering solid performance. Joe and Corey’s pairing of particular significance using the whole field and showing some fabulous tactical running with focus and energy.

Particular mention must go to Hazel, Westcott's wicket keeper who did a fine job keeping the Rooks from getting over confident with her strong focus and catching ability.

Kaz and Fred made up the final pair of the day during a fantastic show of strength' with Kaz heaving 4x4 boundary balls and a beautiful 6 to close this very confident and convincing win.
