Newdigate U10s Enjoy a Fun-Filled Sunday Win Against Dorking Blues

On a sunny Sunday morning at Newdigate Cricket Club, the Under-10s team welcomed Dorking CC Blues for a friendly and spirited Tier 3 East league match. With plenty of smiles, teamwork, and sportsmanship on show, Newdigate emerged as the winners on the day – but cricket was the real winner, as both teams showed great enthusiasm and effort throughout.

Batting first, Dorking’s young cricketers showed great courage and resilience against some accurate bowling. Casper Kornrumpf led the way with a confident 19 runs, finding the boundary three times with some excellent shots. Maximilian Jarvis also chipped in with a handy 8 runs.

Although wickets fell, the Dorking players never gave up and supported each other brilliantly — showing true team spirit. Even as Newdigate’s bowlers found their rhythm, Dorking remained positive and showed great promise for future matches.

Newdigate's bowlers had a fantastic day, sticking to their lines and showing great discipline. James Smith impressed with three wickets in just two overs, while Teilo Curphey bowled two maidens and picked up a wicket, demonstrating excellent control. Every player contributed in the field, cheering on their teammates and showing great focus.

In reply, Newdigate’s batters played some exciting cricket. Kellan Gregory batted with confidence, hitting 21 runs with five delightful boundaries. George Butt (19) and Henry Penfold (15) all played valuable innings, keeping the scoreboard ticking and encouraging each other with every run.

Extras added to the total, but what stood out most was how both teams kept their heads high and played with fantastic spirit throughout.

The match finished with Newdigate ahead by 99 runs, but what truly mattered was the enjoyment, effort, and progress shown by all the players. Coaches, parents, and supporters applauded the positive attitudes on display — a wonderful reminder of what junior cricket is all about.

Well done to both teams for a great game filled with learning, laughter, and lots of promise for the season ahead!
