Newdigate U13 Knights secured a thrilling 10-run victory over Capel U13 in a closely contested Tier 2 Sunday East league match.

Newdigate Innings: 105/8 (17.5 overs) 2 retired batsman are retired out, so not able to return.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Newdigate faced early setbacks with the loss of Freddie Bennion and Oscar Smith. However, a resilient 31 from Sammy Thorneloe and a solid 30 by Ethan Letts stabilised the innings. Despite a flurry of wickets towards the end, the team managed to post a competitive total of 105 for 8.

Capel Bowling Highlights:

Tenny Bishop led the bowling attack with impressive figures of 3 wickets for 5 runs in 2.5 overs.

Capel Innings: 95/7 (20 overs)

Chasing 106 for victory, Capel's innings was anchored by a commendable 30 from Tenny Bishop. Despite their efforts, Capel fell short, finishing at 95 for 7 after 20 overs.

Newdigate Bowling Highlights:

With wickets being shared around, it was Freddie Bennion who was the pick of the bowlers; finishing with figures of 2 overs, 1 maiden, 2 wickets for 3 runs.

However this was a stand out team performance, with just 21 extras conceded, which must be an all time low and a credit to all the handwork being done with bowling and fielding practice at training.
