In the third game of the season for Newdigate, the Knights took 10 wickets in quick succession and Tom and Ollie scored 32 Runs to match Merstham’s first innings gain and retired early with only two batsman having achieved the runs needed to comfortably take Merstham for the win.
Newdigate made the call to bowl first at the Merstham CC Ring in the beautiful setting on Earlswood Common and their bowling attack sliced through opposition with wonderful wickets by Hamish (3), Captain Isaac (1), Austin aka ‘red arm’ (4), Charlotte (1) and Zac aka ‘Bowler-Bowler Triggs” (1). A beautiful catch by Tom in the 8th and a special mention to very strong wicket keeping from Monty.
1st batting pair Tom and Ollie opened Newdigate’s innings with the pair lifting numerous powerful boundary balls with one 6 in particular narrowly missing the hedgerow to excite a passing labradoodle. Under a leopard print sky, Newdigate moved in to secure a comfortable win with great values on show from both U12 teams.
Big thanks go to Team Grant for solid scoring, for umpiring and coaching from James and for cups of tea, biscuits and banter from our warm hosts at Merstham CC.
