Newdigate U9s Shine in Spirited Match Against Worcester Park
Newdigate’s Under-9s put in a fantastic all-round performance in a lively and fun-filled game against Worcester Park CC. The young players showed great skill, teamwork, and most importantly, a love for the game!
Batting Highlights
Newdigate batted with confidence and creativity, posting a strong total of 408 (starting at 200) for 3 wickets from their 16 overs. The innings featured some brilliant performances:
Harris Bladen – A standout knock of 61 runs from just 19 balls, including 7 fours and 5 sixes. A powerful display!
George Butt, Seth Grant & Finch Stevensen – Each contributed a confident 18 runs, rotating the strike and finding the boundary.
Harry Daniels – Hit a composed 14 runs, including a lovely six.
Kellan Gregory – Added a useful 17 runs, supporting the team with steady batting.
Extras also played a part, with 73 runs added from wides and no-balls – a reminder of how important focus and bowling discipline are at this level.
Bowling & Fielding Efforts
With the ball in hand, Newdigate’s young bowlers kept the pressure on, with wickets being shared around, but it was the overall fielding performance that really helped with the day, with some excellent catches.
Worcester Park reached 206 for 9 wickets, with Newdigate’s fielders supporting their bowlers brilliantly. There were some sharp stops, smart throws, and plenty of enthusiasm in the field!
Newdigate came away with a 202-run win, but more importantly, both teams played with excellent spirit and positivity.
