Knockout performance from Mohammad Ali!

1st XI get back to back wins and Under 11s sit top of the league, with George Butt leading the Surrey Stats!

A standout week for the 1st XI headlined a busy round of fixtures for Newdigate Cricket Club, with a sensational Sunday century from Mohammad Ali, great win for the Under 11s, while several other sides came up just short against tough opposition.

Senior Men's Cricket

The 1st XI were in superb form against Wandgas, posting 218 all out before bowling their opponents out for 152 to seal a comprehensive win. David Farrington (35) and Ruky Wickremasinghe (32) gave the innings a solid platform, with Stephen Kehl (33) and Ryan Anderson (27) chipping in down the order, while Jack Bowley finished unbeaten on 21. With the ball, Daniel Harrington, Scott Dunkerley, George Daniels, Ruky Wickremasinghe and Allan Cooper all shared the wickets around superbly, taking two apiece.

The 2nd XI were beaten by a strong Epsom 4th XI, who posted 274/7 before bowling Newdigate out for 156. Chriscent nadeeshan Halvitigala don top-scored with a quickfire 45, with David Wrightson (35) also contributing. Monjur Elahi took 3 wickets with the ball.

The Earthquakes went down to Capel in the T20 Slam, chasing 197 but falling short on 153 all out. George Daniels played a fine knock of 34 and Stephen Kehl made 24. Daniel Harrington, Thomas Gross and George Daniels all picked up a wicket apiece.

Sunday Cricket

The Sunday XI were utterly dominant away at Abinger, posting a huge 243/4 before bowling their hosts out for 129. Mohammad Ali produced a sensational innings of 100 not out, including 8 sixes, and then backed it up with the ball, taking 5/16. David Callcut also shone with the bat, retiring unbeaten on 52, while Ian Kehl chipped in with 3 wickets.

Junior Cricket

The Under 11s had an excellent week, comfortably beating Oxted & Limpsfield by chasing 112 in just 14 overs, with George Butt (25*) and Harris Bladen (14*) seeing the side home. George Butt was also among the wickets, taking 2 in the same fixture alongside Henry Penfold and Barney Browning.

The Under 12s were bowled out for 64, as Stoke D'Abernon chased to 65/6. Jacob Gregory top-scored with 10, and Georgina Hunter (2 wickets), Riley Younge, Ishaan Chandra Sekaran, Poppy Thorneloe and Henry Edwards all chipped in with the ball.

The Under 14 Knights were beaten by Sanderstead, posting 130/8 before their opponents chased it down. Issac Grant top-scored with 33 and Fraser McLean made 20. Noah Bennett (3 wickets) was the standout for Sanderstead, while Georgina Hunter took 2 wickets for Newdigate.

The Under 10 Yorkers lost a close pairs match to Ashtead, finishing on a net score of 273 to 279. Jack Lamacraft (11) and Bertie Edwards (9) were the top scorers, with William Archer Haddow and Libby Shields each taking a wicket.
