Highlights from Week 3 of the Surrey Cricket Leagues!

A hot week on and off the pitch!

It was another strong week for Newdigate Cricket Club, with excellent individual performances across senior, women’s, and junior teams despite mixed results.

Senior Men’s Cricket

The 1st XI fought bravely against Worcester Park but fell just short, with Stephen Kehl top-scoring on 61 and Ryan Anderson contributing a valuable 43. Ruky Wickremasinghe produced a standout bowling performance, taking 4/26.
The 2nd XI struggled against a strong Reigate Priory side, though Daniel Jones scored a solid 30.
The Sunday XI posted 186 against Dorking, led by David Callcut (36), Hussain Abdul-Munaff (26) and Safwan Ahmed (25*), while Dencil Antony claimed 2/44 with the ball.

Women’s Cricket
Newdigate Women’s 1st XI recorded a commanding victory over Leatherhead. Amelia Brien (20*) and Georgina Hunter (21*) guided the batting effort, while Millie Guthrie also made a useful contribution with the bat.

Junior Cricket
The Under 11s continued their good form with a win over Oxted & Limpsfield. Barney Browning was the star with an excellent 32* not out, well supported by George Butt (2/5) and Monty Budd (2/14).
The Under 10s and Under 9s had mixed fortunes in their respective fixtures. Jack Lamacraft and others showed promising signs in the Under 9s pairs match.

Peter Freeman (Chairman’s XI) – 53* retired not out
Daniel Jones (Chairman’s XI) – 51* retired not out
David Wrightson (Chairman’s XI) – 50* retired not out
Ruky Wickremasinghe (1st XI) – 4/26 with the ball
Barney Browning (Under 11) – 32* in a winning chase
