A magnificent century from Ryan Anderson headlined another action-packed week for Newdigate Cricket Club, with the 1st XI in dominant form and the Under 14 Knights and Under 11s both picking up fine wins.

Senior Men's Cricket

The 1st XI put in their most impressive batting display of the season against Wallington, posting a massive 353/6 before bowling their opponents out for 260 to secure a convincing win. Ryan Anderson was simply brilliant, smashing 128 off just 59 balls including 10 fours and 12 sixes. Daniel Harrington (41), Kian Bradley (66) and Ruky Wickremasinghe (37) all contributed handsomely too, with Joseph Haynes finishing unbeaten on 30 off just 9 balls. With the ball, Ruky Wickremasinghe was outstanding, taking 4/51, while Ben Crook (2/32) and Jon Bell (2/78) chipped in with two apiece.

The 2nd XI were beaten away at London Gymkhana, who posted 265/9 before bowling Newdigate out for 149. Thomas Gross top-scored with 23 and Chriscent Halvitigala Don made 15. Khatib Hashim and Chriscent Halvitigala Don were the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 wickets apiece.

The Earthquakes went down by just 4 runs to Oakwood Hill in a thrilling T20 Slam match, falling short on 164/5 chasing 168. Ryan Anderson retired not out on 50 and George Daniels took 2 wickets with the ball.

Sunday Cricket

The Sunday XI were well beaten by a strong Effingham side, who posted an imposing 336/5 — Oliver Rutherford contributing a breathtaking 138 not out. Newdigate replied with 162/7, with Mohammad Ali (28) and Abdur Rob (26) the top scorers. Ian Kehl took 2 wickets for Newdigate.

The Sunday Development XI went down narrowly to Mitcham in a close friendly, posting 195/5 before Mitcham chased it down with 195/5. Chriscent Halvitigala Don retired not out on 53, Thomas Clark made 44 and Kazuya Foster contributed 32. Austin Hunter, Aiden Jones, Kazuya Foster and Thomas Clark each took a wicket in the chase.

Junior Cricket

The Under 14 Knights bounced back in style, chasing down Merstham's 130/2 with 9 wickets in hand. Kazuya Foster (42 retired not out) and Leo Turner (40 retired not out) were brilliant at the top of the order, with Austin Hunter finishing the job on 18 not out. Samuel Thorneloe took the solitary wicket in the field.

The Under 11s were dominant against Outwood, bowling their opponents out for 66 before chasing it down with 8 wickets to spare. Dylan Ciclitira was the star with the ball, taking 4 wickets in fewer than 2 overs, with Teilo Curphey (2/1) also excellent. William Hawkes top-scored with 26 in the chase.

The Under 13s went down to Reigate Priory, posting 105 all out before Reigate chased it down with 3 wickets standing. Jnr Chriscent Halvitigala Don top-scored with 24 and Samuel Thorneloe made 16. Samuel Thorneloe was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets.

The Under 12s had a tough evening against Stoke D'Abernon, who posted 231/7 before bowling Newdigate out for 89/9. Riley Younge was the standout with the bat on 33 not out, and Poppy Thorneloe (2 wickets) and Jacob Gregory (2 wickets) were the best of the bowlers.

The Under 9s won a competitive pairs match against Tadworth, finishing on a net score of 241 to 232. Oscar Butt (17) and Casper Ciclitira (10) led the batting, while Harry Kennerley was sensational with the ball, taking 5 wickets in his 2 overs.
